The bush fires that has engulfed Australia has been a devastating and terrible thing to see from afar with so many lives (both humans and animals) lost to the fire.  Out of this tragedy, however, comes tales of heroism and bravery, such as this one featuring Patsy the Wonderdog who has heroically kept on doing her job and tending to the over 1000 sheep that she’s responsible for.

Patsy the border collie rounded up the sheep and brought them to a safe paddock on her owner’s farm in Corryong, Victoria. Meanwhile, her owner also heroically tried to put out the fire bearing down on their property with a tractor equipped with a tank of water.  So far, they’ve managed to save most all of the sheep from the fire.

About This Book..
Historically, Border Collies are known as a working dog breed. Due to this very fact there are certain dog behaviors and instincts particular to Border Collies only. These behaviors and instincts define the personality of the dog. Understanding these behaviors and instincts is imperative if you desire a well-trained/behaved dog. This book is based on years of experience and thorough research helping you to choose, raise, train and live in harmony with your Border Collie. This book has been written by truly taking into consideration the breed as well as its abilities as this aspect is often ignored by owners of this dog. The content of this book will provide you with an insight of how a Border Collie relates and interacts with its owner and the outside world. Once you’ve read this book, you’ll be better equipped to own and take care of a Border Collie so that it becomes the wonderful companion it’s meant to be!

A Dynamic Duo! Candi & Fish

Here are two, true Border Collie friends, Candi & Fish!  Find out more about this dynamic-duo in their Intros & Hellos profile below!  Pictures and text courtesy of Carri Sellung.

Candi is our a 12.5 yr old Border Collie who still looks young.  We got her at 7 weeks old from a farmer for our 5 yr old son.  We live in Northern Wisconsin and she ran like lightening thru our field.  She LOVES to play ball, frisbee, stuffed toy hedgehogs, loves to swim, loves to herd the kids, loves to chase squirrels and chipmunks.  She is just a sweetie and we enjoy having her!!!!

We adopted Fish a 3 yr old on 7/11/19.  He was named Fish cuz when his owner was going to go fishing – his wife said don’t come home without fish – he brought home Fish!

Unfortunately, his previous owner surrendered him three months ago due to having cancer and not having much longer to live.  It took a couple days for him to get along with Candi but they are buddies now.  He doesn’t know how to play – we throw a ball and he cowers or chases Candi to stop her from getting it.  He’s very well behaved and a big ol’ teddy bear.  He was an outdoor kenneled dog but now he’s an indoor dog.  He’s very timid and skiddish with other dogs and people.  Nonetheless, he’s a wonderful addition to our family.
