Arya the Border Collie Is Learning Something New Everyday

Wojtek Smagała would like all of you to meet Arya! Arya is a nine month old border collie puppy who lives in Poland! See her write up below…

What is the name of your border collie?
My little girl is called Arya

How old is she?
She was born on May 18, 2017.

How did she become part of your family?
I bought her from a breeder when she was 2 months. She looked just like a small furry ball! 🙂

Does she have any special talents or tricks?
I taught her some basic tricks and some more difficult ones like standing on her back legs and taking a bow. We are still trying to learn something new everyday. For example we have started agility training!

What is the one thing that you love the most about having a border collie as a pet?
This breed is the best, because she understands my feelings, learns very fast, sleeps and travels with me and is always there when I need her!

About This Book..
Historically, Border Collies are known as a working dog breed. Due to this very fact there are certain dog behaviors and instincts particular to Border Collies only. These behaviors and instincts define the personality of the dog. Understanding these behaviors and instincts is imperative if you desire a well-trained/behaved dog. This book is based on years of experience and thorough research helping you to choose, raise, train and live in harmony with your Border Collie. This book has been written by truly taking into consideration the breed as well as its abilities as this aspect is often ignored by owners of this dog. The content of this book will provide you with an insight of how a Border Collie relates and interacts with its owner and the outside world. Once you’ve read this book, you’ll be better equipped to own and take care of a Border Collie so that it becomes the wonderful companion it’s meant to be!

Hello everyone,

Once you have had a border collie you dont want any other breed! Meet Digger, 11 years old and my third. I lost my first two to cancer. For me, I have to replace as soon as I can to fill the heartache. I got Digger, from a breeder, when he was 19 months. He was being picked on by the alpha male. He settled in just fine. Doesn’t have any special tricks, just wants to be loved and believes everyone is put on this earth to pat him. Follows me everywhere including into the toilet! He is small for a male and everyone thinks he is a girl. I cover his ears and tell them that he is a bloke! Hates thunder and fireworks. I love him to bits and hope I have him for a few years yet.

Kind Regards,
Kim Cleverton

Lucie Gauthier would like all of you to meet Abby!  Abby is a 4 year old border collie who is living with Addison’s disease, but is still full of life and spunk!

black and white border collieWhat is the name of your border collie?

Abby

How old is Abby?
Abby is a 4 year old Border Collie.

How did Abby become part of your family?
We adopted her in June 2017 after she was featured on a local rescue’s Facebook page.  She lives with Addison’s disease which is an adrenal gland issue that prevents her from producing the hormones that help with stress.  When she came home to us she was at least 10lbs underweight. Now she is perfect and thriving.

black and white border collieWhat is the one thing that you love the most about having a border collie as a pet?
What we love most is her spunk and spirit. She is like a little human who is intelligent and stubborn. (just like her human sister!

Do you have any interesting or funny stories to share about your border collie?
Abby knows the difference between cheap dollar store ones and the real official Wilson tennis ball. She also knows the difference between the words Go see mom, dad or Bee.

What else do you want people to know about your border collie?
Someone suggested that she could never live with another animal! She now lives amicably with 1 other dog, 2 cats and 8 chickens (which she guards from the neighbour’s dog).

In this ‘Intros & Hellos’ post, we are featuring this email submission from Mick Howard who’s wanted to introduce to everyone his border collie puppy named Lilly.

Hi,

We all love looking at the great pics, videos and stories on the Border Collie Fan Club  Facebook and Instagram pages and wanted to share some of our pics of our beautiful border collie Lilly. In the pics she is sat waiting (as usual) at the top of the local crags for us to catch up and looks great this weekend with the heather in bloom, also playing football on the local park and as a a cheeky puppy finding a hole in the fence to make friends with Mavis, her next door neighbour. I hope you like them.

Regards,
Mick

What is the name of your border collie?
Lilly

How old is Lilly?
She is one year old

How did Lilly become part of your family?
We were very lucky and she chose us when we visited a local farm.

Does she have any special talents or tricks?
She is an awesome footballer, trampoliner, ladder climber and has just started agility classes.

What is the one thing that you love the most about having a border collie as a pet?
We just all love Lilly who is the friendliest, most sociable dog who much to everyone’s amusement constantly pats anyone she meets with her paw to remind them how beautiful she is and she needs a pat and a stroke in return.

Do you have any interesting or funny stories to share about your border collie?
A very naughty five month old Lilly managed to open the door to the hall and steal Santa’s pork pie on X-mas Eve before hiding under her blanket. Thankfully Santa still left presents including Lilly’s!
