Baby Blue (BB) was born deaf and was surrendered by a couple to Border Collie Rescue and Rehab.  Her current owner Aki Yamaguchi rescued her and does a phenomenal job of meeting the challenge of training a deaf dog.  Aki is a dog photographer/trainer/rescuer & author and is former search & rescue and therapy dog trainer/handler.  Learn more about her work and her two BCs BB and Phoebe on their website and Instagram.

Could your border collie be worth £27,100?  Well, Kim the Border Collie is!  This now famous puppy from the UK has smashed the world record for being the most expensive sheepdog after being sold at an action to a local farmer, who will be using her to… herd sheep!  Kim’s record-breaking auction beat the previous record set by border collie Henna, who was bought for £20,000.  To note, the average price for a working dog in the UK is about £2,000.

How old is she?
She is 7 years old

How did he/she become part of your family?
Bought from a small holding on the Isle of Tiree Scotland

What is the one thing that you love the most about having a border collie as a pet?
being a widower and retired living alone Skye is my second collie . We go just about everywhere together , very good company . I / and my family decided when I retired I needed another best friend!

Do you have any interesting or funny stories to share about your border collie?
When I got away with her in my motor home there is a site next to Loch Naver and she loves this place . From when she comes back from her first walk all she wants to do is go into the water and cries like a child to be allowed in.

Does he/she have any special talents or tricks?
Anytime walking with my grandchildren if we are not all together she rounds them all back together , my eldest grandson has a very close bond with her.

What else do you want people to know about your border collie?
The border collie is to me the most loyal dog I have ever had!
